Works of art, monstrances, chalices, liturgical vestments, manuscripts, old prints, documents, and numerous mementoes gathered for seven hundred years in the monastery of Franciscan Fathers will be made available to the public for two months. This is a most unusual event, as the objects in question spend their lives within the monastic enclosure, as is the case with most exhibitions organised by the Historic Museum within the Treasures of Krakow Monasteries series. In the year 2000, we will be able to see the collection gathered in the monastery of the Conventual Franciscans: one of the first monasteries established in Krakow, early in the 13th century. While the exhibition lasts, a seminar devoted to the history of the monastery and its collection will be held. Also a catalogue, encompassing all the collections already presented in the series, that is those from the monasteries of the Capuchans, Cistercians, and Calced Carmelites from the district of Piasek, Canons Regular of the Lateran, Observant Franciscans (locally called Bernardines), Reformed Franciscans, and Sisters of the Presentation, will be published.
