7th Krakow Ballet Spring - Hubbard Street Dance Chicago
In April and June, Krakow will host choreographers and ballet companies of world-renown. Organised by Grażyna Karaś and Przemysław Śliwa, the Seventh Krakow Ballet Spring is to present the newest trends in dance. As every year, all Festival presentations will be held in the historic interior of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre. This is how tradition interfuses with modernity, and how the dancers receive an extraordinary setting. Totally different worlds will be conjured on-stage by the Hubbard Street Dance from Chicago, French Decouflé company, Batsheva Dance Company from Israel, and the Ballet of the La Scala Opera. This will be an encounter of diverse dance techniques and traditions. Diligent vigil for common elements: hierarchy, subtlety, passion… At a later date, we will be visited by the Boris Ejfman’s Sankt Petersburg Ballet Theatre, coming to tell their emotional story of people who express their most beauteous emotions through dance. Soloists of this group are known to be able to stimulate the liveliest reactions among Krakow spectators. And it is not rendering the “Russian soul” through dance or subtle dispute with Diagiliev’s achievements: Ejfman’s choreography is simply a crystal-clear structure, embedded in itself like a Venetian mirror. A sensitive public is capable of respect this. Ejfman’s returns to Krakow are the best recommendation that the Ballet Spring may receive.
